Description
Offered today is a FABULOUS, rare and unique mid-1900s Victorian 14k rose gold and rose cut diamond cameo stick pin.  The cameo is made of sardonyx (reddish hardstone) and is expertly carved. The subject matter is the philosopher Aristotle.  It is a must-have for the collector of unusual cameos.
The cameo carver must have been left handed, as Aristotle faces left.  The majority of cameos are carved with the facial profile toward the right, which makes this particular cameo even more special.  The hair and beard are well detailed, and the nose is in perfect condition.
On all four sides, is a trio of rose cut diamonds, all intact.
This is quite a long stick pin, measuring 3.75″ long.  The cameo portion measures 1″ by 3/4″.  The pin tests positive for soid 14k gold, and it weighs 5.7 grams.  It’s in excellent condition.
